The Mets are determined to challenge their core prospects. So team brass decided to promote center fielder Fernando Martinez from the low Class A Hagerstown to high Class A St. Lucie. The 17-year-old made his St. Lucie debut Aug. 4, after hitting .333/.389/.505 in 192 at-bats with Hagerstown.
