In Baseball America’s new Midseason Prospect Update, righthanded pitcher Noah Syndergaard held the top spot for the New York Mets. After finishing the 2013 season with a 3.11 ERA in 64 innings with high Class-A St. Lucie and a 3.00 ERA in 54 innings with Double-A Binghamton, Syndergaard was tabbed with the No. 1 title at the beginning of the season.

So far in 2014, Syndergaard’s numbers have not been pretty in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Pitching for Triple-A Las Vegas, he had a 5.74 ERA after 85 innings of work. His peripherals still hold up, though, as he’s striking out 9.25 batters per nine innings, walking just 2.76 batters per nine and has a FIP (4.10) which is more than a full run lower than his ERA.
