The Indians knew it was time to try something new to help lefthander Chuck Lofgren break out of the maddening mental funk that has bothered him since the season began. One inning he'd be fine. The next, he'd be a total wreck, losing all of his control and focus. "It's something I've been fighting all year long," said Lofgren, who last earned a victory on May 1. "I'll go a couple innings good, then I'll have one where I'll walk a guy on four pitches. Instead of just letting it go and focusing on the next hitter, I beat myself up and try to make a perfect pitch."
