Dominican shortstop Michael de Leon, the No. 26 international prospect for July 2, has signed with the Rangers for $550,000.
De Leon, a 16-year-old switch-hitter, is 6-foot-1, 160 pounds and has shown a knack for putting the barrel to the ball with a line-drive swing. He makes the routine plays at shortstop but some scouts think he could slide across the diamond to second base. De Leon played in the Dominican Prospect League and trains with Valentin Monero.
