The Diamondbacks have signed two 16-year-old Dominican prospects out of the International Prospect League, outfielder Francis Martinez and third baseman Josue Herrera.
Martinez, who signed for $350,000 is 6-foot-4, 190 pounds and is a switch-hitter who stands out for his power potential and athleticism for his size. He turned 16 on June 28, so he’s one of the younger players in this year’s signing class. His trainer, Josue Herrera, is the father and trainer of the third baseman the Diamondbacks signed by the same name. He signed for $150,000.
