The Yankees have signed 16-year-old Dominican outfielder Juan De Leon, the No. 2 international prospect for July 2, for $2 million.
A righthanded hitter, De Leon has one of the best tool sets in Latin America, with a strong frame (6-foot-1, 175 pounds), excellent bat speed and is one of the top hitters on the market. He will likely play right field. De Leon trained with Raul Valera, who is known as “Banana,” and played in both the Dominican Prospect League and the International Prospect League.
