High School Top 25: May 11

Playoffs always seem to shake up rankings, but this week's poll saw some unprecedented changes. Seven teams dropped out of the Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25, three of which were in the top five spots. Klein High of Spring, Texas jumped from No. 9 to the top spot after a bi-district win in the Texas state tournament.

Farragut High of Knoxville is off to a hot start at 10-2 and takes over the top spot after Miami's Columbus High dropped a game against Coral Springs (Fla.) Charter School. Farragut is looking to defend back-to-back state titles and is a regular in the Baseball America/National High School Baseball Coaches Association Top 25. Columbus fell to No. 5 after taking its second loss of the season.

High School Top 25: June 9

Bellaire (Texas) High's bid for a national championship ended this past weekend when it was eliminated in the region finals of the Texas playoffs. Still alive after taking two out of three from Calallen High (Corpus Christi, Texas) is the new No. 1 team, Moody High (Corpus Christi, Texas). Moody is now into single-elimination format and will face Arlington Heights High (Fort Worth, Texas). The winner of that game will face the winner of Texarkana's Texas High and Brenham (Texas) High).

The merry-go-round continues as the curse of being ranked No. 1 bites Tampa's Jesuit High. On the verge of an undefeated season, Jesuit faced perennial contender Sarasota (Fla.) High in its season finale. The Sailors prevailed, blanking the Tigers 7-0, which led to their drop from No. 1 to No. 3. Menchville High of Newport News, Va. takes over the top spot as the Monarchs remain undefeated with a 17-0 mark while Bellaire (Texas) High stayed put at No. 2.

Just as Bellaire (Texas) High was lying in wait for Bishop Gorman High (Las Vegas) to misstep, the Tigers of Tampa's Jesuit High pounced after Bellaire lost to Houston's Westside High 5-2.
