The top 25 teams are selected through a poll of representatives from the Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) and Baseball America. All records are as of March 5, 2017.

The top three teams in the nation have held steady thus far, with South Hills jumping up to No. 4 and Barbe sliding down to No. 5. Merritt Island had not yet allowed a run as of the vote.

No. 7 Horizon is the highest riser of a previously unranked team. The Huskies’ resume already includes a victory over No. 12 Hamilton. Lead by senior Evan Williams and sophomore Kody Huff, Horizon is in good shape heading into next week’s Horizon National Invitational. In that tournament, the Huskies will face a challenging field that includes No. 18 Cherokee Trail and several promising clubs from Oklahoma, in addition to Arizona powers Brophy Prep and Canyon Del Oro.

Other high risers include No. 14 Northview, lead by senior DJ Poteet, and Steinbrenner, lead by seniors CJ Van Eyk and Patrick Morris.
