About 75 rising high school seniors from Texas and Oklahoma performed in the 11th annual Texas Scouts Association showcase in Houston. The talent was not exceptional, but there's reason to believe Texas' contribution to the draft next year could be substantial.

Cape Cod Classic Roster

Baseball Factory and Team One selection high school players to play in the third annual Cape Cod High School Classic on July 27 in Wareham, Mass. Over the two-year history of the event 39 of its alumni have been drafted, including 10 first-round picks, including Kasey Kiker (Rangers, first round, 2006), Chris Parmelee (Twins, first round, 2006) and Phillippe Aumont (Mariners, first round, 2007).

Mike Moustakas slugged his way to becoming the first high school player drafted this year when he was taken with the second pick by the Royals. He was selected as the Los Angeles City Section player of the year for the second consecutive season, and trumped that honor by becoming just the second player from the Golden State to be named Baseball America's High School Player of the Year.

HS Top 50: Final 2007 Rankings

Wilson High (Long Beach) finished its season 32-3 and won the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section Division I championship. The staff of Baseball America and the National High School Baseball Coaches Association unanimously voted Wilson High as the final No. 1 team in the 2007 Top 50 rankings.

This was the first wide-scale national scouting event of the summer, and before major league teams had time to polish off the paperwork of the 2007 draft, more than 300 of the nation's top rising high school seniors gathered in Cincinnati for '08 orientation.

The 32 players, along with 11 alternates, were selected from a pool of 144 players who participated in the 15th annual Tournament of Stars at USA Baseball's national training complex in Cary, N.C.
