2013 High School All-America Team

The 2013 high school season has come to a close and it’s time to honor players who had outstanding performances with our High School All-America teams. Offense was still at a premium with the new era of BBCOR bats sapping a lot of young players’ power, but several still showed their strength. Clint Frazier repeated as a first team All-American with 17 home runs while also reeling in Player of the Year honors. Catcher Alex Jackson saw his average dip slightly from last season, when he hit .400, but he blasted 14 home runs in San Diego to land on the second team. He’s just a junior and figures to be in the mix again next year as he has a great case to be the top prospect in the 2014 class.

Junior Jack Flaherty will make for a great debate in 2014 as scouts try to decide whether his future is on the mound or in the field. He led Harvard-Westlake High (Studio City, Calif.) to a Southern Section title and the No. 1 spot in the High School Top 25 with solid offense and a dominant season on the mound.

Righthander Wil Crowe led the All-Americans with 187 strikeouts, while second-team infielder Silento Sayles blew everyone away with 103 stolen bases.

The three All-America teams were selected by staff members of Baseball America after soliciting nominations from scouts and coaches all over the country. Statistics and their relation to competition level play the biggest role in the decisions.
