The Phillies have wrapped up both of their sandwich picks, both of whom are high school righthanders. Shane Watson (No. 40 overall) has signed for $1,291,300 and Mitchell Gueller (No. 54) has agreed to terms for $940,200. Both of those bonuses match the assigned pick values.
A product of Lakewood (Calif.) HS, Watson has a pair of potential plus pitches in an 89-93 mph fastball that peaks at 96 and a sharp curveball. Gueller, who shot up draft boards late in the spring at West HS (Chehalis, Wash.), has a low-90s fastball and shows flashes of an above-average breaking ball and changeup.
