Jarrod Parker (Norwell High, Ossian, Ind.) pitched three scoreless innings of relief Tuesday night and ran his fastball up to 98 mph. He pitched near 95, touched 97 three times and 98 at least once, according to a scout in attendance.
“It’s clean, it’s effortless and it’s got lots of life,” the scout said.
At least nine scouts were at the outing, including Diamondbacks director of player personnel Jerry Dipoto. Arizona has the ninth selection in the first round tomorrow, but Parker could be taken as early as No. 2 to the Royals.
