The Dodgers have signed supplemental first-rounder Jesmuel Valentin to a bonus of $984,700, matching the assigned value for his No. 51 overall selection.
The son of longtime big league infielder Jose Valentin, Jesmuel is a middle infielder from the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy in Gurabo, P.R. He played mostly second base there in deference to No. 1 overall pick Carlos Correa, but Valentin can play on the left side of the infield. He's a switch-hitter with good bat speed and pop for a middle infielder.
