2014 State Draft Report: Ohio

Although the Buckeye State has a prep arm that could go in the first two rounds, it is a down year overall. The Ohio talent is dominated by pitching from both the college and high school side.

Righthander Zach Shannon, who had a down spring after a solid summer before getting injured in the fall, could have given the state another prep arm to move into the top few rounds and headline the state. The college crop in the state is light. The state is plentiful in big-bodied college arms who show some velocity but are short on control and a sustained track record of performance.
