2013 Draft State Report: Iowa

Iowa may not produce a player selected in the first 10 rounds, though Washington High (Cedar Rapids) lefthander A.J. Puk could fit as high as the third round if he were signable. Teams don’t think his present ability merits the money to sign him away from Florida.

THIS YEAR’S CROP
***** One for the books
**** Banner year
*** Solid, not spectacular
** Not up to par
* Nothing to see here
Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states

As usual, most of the Hawkeye State’s best prospects hail from junior colleges, with live-armed Des Moines Area CC righthander Dakota Freese leading that contingent.
