Grovatt had three more hits and another homer in a back-and-forth affair Sunday, but Florida State came from behind to win on Tyler Holt’s two-run homer in the eighth.

Texas came from behind to tie that game up on So. 2B Jordan Etier’s solo homer in the eighth, then won it on Jr. 1B Tant Shepherd’s walk-off homer in the 10th. Texas got more stellar pitching in Saturday’s doubleheader sweep from Jr. RHPs Cole Green (7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K) and Brandon Workman (6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K). Jr. RHP Brandon Cumpton (4 IP, 10 H, 5 ER) struggled Saturday as Wake built an 8-1 lead, but the Jackets surged ahead in an eight-run sixth, highlighted by two-run homers from Jr. C Cole Leonida and Sr. OF Jay Dantzler. Leonida’s sacrifice fly broke a 5-5 tie in the seventh on Sunday, and Fr. RHP Buck Farmer (4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K) picked up the win in relief.

Florida State’s bullpen and defense imploded in Virginia’s six-run ninth-inning outburst Saturday. Clemson erased a 6-5 deficit in the nightcap with seven runs in the eighth, capped by So. 3B John Hinson’s three-run double. In that game and again on Sunday, Jr. OF Jeff Schaus drove in the game-tying run with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning. In the finale, Jr. OF Kyle Parker followed with a game-winning RBI walk against a fellow ACC quarterback, RHP Russell Wilson.

Jr. RHP Patrick Johnson (3.2 IP, 6 H, 6 ER) was shelled Saturday, and Fr. RHP Chris Munnelly (1.1 IP, 6 H, 6 ER) provided no relief, as Duke won in a slugfest. Jr. RHP Colin Bates (6.2 IP, 7 H, 2 ER) pitched well in a no-decision Sunday, but Duke came from behind with three runs in the eighth to win the game and the series.

The Sooners got strong starts Friday and Saturday from Jr. RHPs Zach Neal (6.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 8 K) and Bobby Shore (7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K). Sr. DH/C Ross Hubbard went 7-for-12 with three doubles and a homer on the week.
