Auburn won a home series against LSU for the first time since 1998. Jr. OF Trent Mummey, who returned to the lineup this week after a season-long absence for a severely sprained ankle, hit a grand slam in Friday’s loss. Mummey homered again Saturday—his third of the week—and Jr. OF Brian Fletcher went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in a slugfest victory. After LSU tied Sunday’s game at 5-5 with a run in the top of the ninth, Auburn won it in the bottom of the frame on Jr. OF Justin Fradejas’ safety squeeze, scoring So. SS Casey McElroy.

The Wildcats used a balanced 12-hit attack Friday in support of Fr. RHP Kurt Heyer (6.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER), who improved to 5-0. So. LHP Bryce Bandilla (4.1 IP, 5 H, 5 ER) took the loss Saturday. So. OF Steve Selsky (3-for-5, 2 R, 3 RBI, HR) led a 14-hit attack Sunday behind So. RHP Kyle Simon (9 IP, 3 H, 1 ER). Sr. 1B Rafael Valenzuela had two hits in each game.

Jr. LHP Elliot Glynn (8 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER) was strong in a no-decision Friday, and the Huskies broke a 1-1 tie on Jr. C Joe Pavone’s walk-off RBI single in the 10th. Jr. LHP Greg Nappo (9 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K) threw a complete-game shutout Saturday. Jr. 3B Mike Olt (3-for-4, 2 R, 2B, 3B) led the offense Sunday in support of So. RHP Matt Barnes (8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7 K), who improved to 6-0.

Sr. 1B Jeff Cusick’s walk-off, three-run homer in the ninth Friday made a winner out of Sr. LHP Daniel Bibona (9 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 8 K). Sr. RHP Christian Bergman (5.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 1 ER) fell to 3-2 in Saturday’s loss. Sr. RHP Eric Pettis (7.1 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 3 ER) took his first loss of the season Sunday.

Stanford’s losing streak stretched to five games before the Cardinal salvaged the series finale against Oregon. Stanford was limited to two runs on five hits Friday by Oregon pitchers Tyler Anderson and Scott McGough. The Cardinal led 6-1 through seven innings in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, but the bullpen imploded in the final two innings, wasting a solid start by So. RHP Jordan Pries (7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER). So. LHP Brett Mooneyham (8 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 7 K) picked up his first win of the season in the nightcap.

Sr. SS Brodie Greene’s two-run homer in the sixth propelled Jr. RHP Barret Loux (6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K) to his fifth win of the season. The Aggies mustered just four hits while striking out 13 times against Baylor So. RHP Logan Verrett on Saturday. Fr. RHP Michael Wacha (6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER) was strong in a no-decision Sunday, but the Bears broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the seventh, handing So. RHP John Stilson (2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER) his first loss of the season.

Alabama has lost 10 of its last 15 games, but its furious comeback salvaged Sunday’s finale against Kentucky. So. LHP Adam Morgan (7.2 IP, 11 H, 5 ER) took his first loss of the season Friday, as Kentucky came from behind with four in the eighth. Jr. RHP Jimmy Nelson (5.2 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 6 ER) was knocked around in Saturday’s loss. The Tide trailed 9-0 through five innings Sunday, but Sr. 3B Jake Smith’s fifth-inning grand slam ignited the Alabama offense, which produced the biggest comeback in the school’s recorded history.
