Cal State Fullerton gave us all a not-so-gentle reminder that it remains the team to beat on the West Coast, “down year” or not. The Titans crushed UCLA 12-2 this evening behind a complete-game, seven-strikeout performance by Wes Roemer and a 12-hit barrage by the offense. Veterans John Curtis and Evan McArthur led the Fullerton offense, combining for six hits and five RBIs, as UCLA ace Tyson Brummett was tagged for nine runs over 4 1/3 innings. We’ll see if the Bruins have any luck with lefthanders on the mound the next two games (should the series go to three games).
Meanwhile, it’s pouring in Chapel Hill, and it’s starting to seem very unlikely there will be any more baseball played tonight.
