We Gaze Into The Crystal Ball

John Manuel and Aaron Fitt -

In the course of gathering information for the College Preview, we send out a questionnaire to coaches that asks them (among other things) to make predictions in the categories below. We've decided that Aaron Fitt and John Manuel, who spearhead our college coverage, should go out on that same limb. Here are our predictions for 2010's national honors:

Rosenblatt Remembered

John Manuel and Aaron Fitt -

Rosenblatt Stadium, college baseball's great cathedral, will host the College World Series for the final time in 2010. After 61 years in Rosenblatt, the CWS will move downtown to a brand-new $140 million TD Ameritrade Park Omaha starting in 2011. Prices Have Unique Coaching Bond

Jim Shonerd -

Baseball is often referred to as a game for fathers and sons, evoking images of families like the Griffeys and Ripkens and serving as a common experience with which most any fan or player can relate. And then there are Kansas head coach Ritch Price and his son Ritchie of South Dakota State, Division I's youngest head coach at age 25, a father and son who have a unique connection amidst the baseball landscape. College Baseball’s Best Of The Decade

Aaron Fitt and John Manuel -

To celebrate the recently completed decade, we put together an All-2000s team to honor the best of the best. Like our annual All-America teams, this team recognizes four starting pitchers, three outfielders, one two-way or "utility" player and one player at every other position. We selected the team and our decade award winners by sending out ballots to every Division I head coach, and 150 of them responded. Pie charts for each position indicate what percentage of the vote each player got at his position. The highest vote-getters who did not make the team were then considered for the DH position.
