Final 2012 College Top 25

Arizona completed a perfect 10-0 run through the NCAA tournament to win its first national title since 1986 and finish atop Baseball America's final Top 25 rankings. The Wildcats were ranked No. 5 in the preseason and never dropped below No. 14, where they sat for two weeks in May. They entered the NCAA tournament with a No. 13 ranking, then caught fire in the postseason. The Wildcats last topped BA's rankings on March 10, 2008.

But to win the national championship, teams must stay loose and relaxed in the face of an intense blitz of fan and media attention that is foreign to most college baseball players. So it's no wonder those lovable jokesters of South Carolina are in the CWS Finals for the third straight year. And it's no wonder Arizona stands in the way of a South Carolina three-peat.

College baseball lacked an individual performance for the ages in 2012—the kind of seasons Stephen Strasburg, Buster Posey and Trevor Bauer had as juniors. Considering the demands of his defensive position, his leadership value and his power production, Florida catcher Mike Zunino had the best all-around season, earning him our College Player of the Year award.
