South Carolina and North Carolina finally ended the longest super regional ever told on Tuesday, with North Carolina winning the decisive third game 5-4. The series dragged from Friday to Tuesday thanks to continual heavy rain in North Carolina.
Super regional play got under way Friday at two sites, with teams playing best of three series to win berths in the College World Series. Two super regionals in North Carolina (Chapel Hill and Raleigh) were pushed back because of rain, but most action ended by Sunday, with sweeps in all but two super regionals. Mississippi State swept Virginia in a series completed on Monday after the Sunday game was suspended by rain. Oregon State bounced back from losing the first game of its super regional to beat Kansas State in Game Three on Monday, and the battle for Carolina had a second game postponed by rain.
Baseball America will have things covered as usual with on-site reports from Chapel Hill, Fullerton and Raleigh, and complete wrap-ups of the action each day from Aaron Fitt. Our NCAA Super Regional Scoreboard will keep you on top of all the action, with all the scores and links to all the stories.
ESPN is broadcasting all super regional games, on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU, as well as online via ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
