Turning Point: When Wes Roemer turned and
watched Scott Santschi’s wall-crawling homer in the seventh. Santschi’s
second RBI of the game gave the Beavers a working two-run margin, which

The Hero: Jorge Reyes did what other starting pitchers had not
been able to do yet in the ’07 CWS–leave the game with a lead that
held up. He’s the first starting pitcher to earn a victory this year
with six crisp, powerful innings.
You Might Have Missed: Fullerton right fielder Nick Mahin not
only drove in two runs for the offensively strapped Titans, but he also
earned kudos from the right-field bleachers fans for his heroic work
during the break between the fourth and fifth innings. Mahin saved at
least three beach balls from destruction at the hands of the grounds
crew, at one point employing a nifty spin move to shield the ball from
the ground crew member, then tossing the ball back into the stands.
