College Top 25 (May 26)

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns, the Sun Belt champs and winners of 53 games, moved into the top spot of the Baseball America Top 25 for the first time ever, eclipsing Oregon State, which ended its regular season by losing two of three to Southern California. The Beavers enter the NCAA postseason as the national No. 1 seed and ranked No. 2.

Virginia, BA’s preseason No. 1, fell from No. 3 to eighth after going 1-2 in the ACC Tournament, a week after losing a series to Wake Forest.

Florida, which fell to LSU in the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game, moves up to No. 3, with Florida State and Cal Poly rounding out the top five.

Big Ten champion Indiana moves up to No. 6, SEC champs LSU moves up to No. 7, with the Cavs eighth, Big 12 champion TCU No. 9 and Oklahoma State rounding out the top 10.

There was little movement from 11-20, but Kansas, Texas Tech, Alabama, and Sam Houston State all fell from the ranks to allow Kentucky, Pepperdine, Arkansas and Georgia Tech to move in.

The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of May 25 and do not include ties. The next poll will be the final rankings at the conclusion of the College World Series.
