UC Irvine held fast at the top of the Baseball America Top 25 rankings, as the Anteaters took two out of three at UC Santa Barbara to remain perfect in weekend series and earn the No. 1 ranking for the sixth consecutive week.
UC Irvine, Louisiana State, Arizona State, Cal State Fullerton and Texas, the top five teams in the rankings, all stayed put after having winning weeks, but the back of the top 10 was rearranged. Virginia was the biggest mover, climbing nine spots to No. 7 after going 4-0 in the ACC tournament, with three of its wins coming against ranked teams. The Cavaliers are followed by North Carolina, Oklahoma and Florida State, which all fell in their respective conference tournaments but will still host regionals next weekend.
Louisville paired a Big East tournament title with its regular-season title and jumped up five spots in the rankings, reaching the No. 15 spot. Meanwhile, Kansas State went 2-1 in Big 12 tournament pool play and moved up to No. 14, as the Wildcats reached the 40-win plateau for the first time in school history.
Gonzaga slotted back into the rankings at No. 19 after a sweep of Loyola Marymount in the West Coast Conference championship series. Coastal Carolina and Middle Tennessee State joined the Zags in the rankings, as the Chanticleers and Blue Raiders won the Big South and Sun Belt conference tournament titles, respectively.
