DURHAM, N.C.—Virginia defeated No. 16 Miami in an ACC weekend series to remain in first place in the conference and atop the Baseball America Top 25 for the fifth consecutive week.
Florida State climbed into the top five for the first time this season with a midweek win at then-No. 15 Stetson and a weekend series victory at North Carolina State. No new teams entered the top 10 this week, though series losses by Arizona State and Vanderbilt caused some teams to shift near the top of the rankings. Florida defeated then-No. 3 Vanderbilt in Nashville, and rose to No. 6 this week.
Connecticut was the week’s biggest mover, climbing three spots to No. 15 with a weekend series victory against Louisville. The Huskies clinched their first Big East regular-season title with the wins.
Stetson fell the furthest of any team, dropping six spots after a 2-3 week. The Hatters did manage to stay undefeated in weekend series, winning their conference set at Lipscomb to clinching the regular-season Atlantic Sun championship.
Florida International was the lone team to enter the Baseball America Top 25 this week. The Golden Panthers extended their unbeaten streak to 16 games with a 3-0-1 record against Stetson and Arkansas State.
The ACC has six teams ranked in the Baseball America Top 25, the most of any conference.
