Cal State Fullerton won a series on the road against UC Riverside to remain at No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings for the second consecutive week.
The top half of the rankings remained largely unchanged as most of the top teams took care of business over the weekend. The top six in the rankings stayed the same. Baylor moved up one spot to No. 7 while UC Irvine jumped two places to No. 8 after sweeping then-No. 19 Cal Poly over the weekend. Georgia Tech moved into the top 10 for the first time this season thanks a series win over Miami on the road. The Hurricanes slid from seventh to 11th.
Unlike the top 15, the rest of the rankings proved quite volatile. East Carolina and Oklahoma State, who split a pair of meetings earlier this season, were the biggest movers, each jumping up six spots. The Pirates won a series on the road against Marshall while the Cowboys won the first two games of a series against Missouri that will be concluded today.
Three teams entered the rankings this week. Oregon State and Florida both returned to the Top 25 and San Diego State came in for the first time this season. The Beavers won two of three against rival Oregon in their first renewal of the baseball Civil War since the Ducks revived their program. Meanwhile, Florida swept Alabama and San Diego State won a series at then-No. 16 Texas Christian, which fell to No. 22.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of March 29 and do not include ties.
