Preseason No. 1 Virginia, coming off a series win against then-No.14 Clemson, moved back into the top spot of Baseball America’s Top 25 for the first time since March 3. The Cavaliers have not posted a losing weekend through nine weeks of play.
Louisiana-Lafayette, following a weekend sweep of Arkansas-Little Rock, reaches its highest ranking ever at No. 2, while Cal Poly moved back to No. 3 after a sweep at Hawaii.
Florida State, No. 1 the past three weeks, fell to fourth following a series loss at Georgia Tech—which enters the rankings at No. 25—that capped a 1-3 week.
Oregon State rose to fifth and Texas, Washington, Alabama, Florida and Louisville round out the top 10. Florida jumped six spots after completing a sweep of its three-game season series against Florida State and winning a weekend series at South Carolina. The Cardinals reached the top 10 after sweeping a series at Houston.
Big drops included South Carolina’s fall to No. 11 from fifth; Houston’s slide from No. 8 to 14th; and Kentucky’s plunge to No. 19 from No. 12.
Cal State Fullerton, which dropped a series to UC Santa Barbara in a 2-2 week, fell from the rankings.
