DURHAM,
N.C.–Georgia Tech lost its first game of the season, but at 16-1
maintained its spot atop Baseball America’s weekly college baseball
rankings. The next nine teams in the rankings all held on to their
spots as well.

The bottom of the rankings saw much
more change, with five teams checking into the Top 25 for the first
time this season. Washington and Georgia start in the Top 20. Both
clubs opened 2005 ranked before falling shy of expectations. Baylor,
Wichita State and Oklahoma enter in spots 22, 23 and 24. Baylor ended
2005 ranked No. 4. Wichita State and Oklahoma each were last ranked
during the 2004 season.

The staff of Baseball America
determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of
March 12 and do not include ties.
