DURHAM, N.C.–Rice and North Carolina took the week off for final exams and remained in the top two spots in Baseball America’s weekly Top 25 college baseball rankings.
Nebraska wasn’t as lucky. The Cornhuskers dropped both of their games at Oklahoma State to fall from third to fifth in the rankings. The Cowboys made their 2006 debut in the rankings at No. 24 by becoming the first team to win a series against Nebraska this season.
Kentucky rose to No. 8 with its sweep of Mississippi, which entered the series with 11 consecutive victories. That gave the Wildcats nine Southeastern Conference wins in 10 games and moved them into first place overall in the conference. Elsewhere in the SEC, Georgia swept South Carolina to enter the rankings at No. 16. South Carolina fell from No. 12 to No. 19.
