College Draft Prospects Stat Roundup: Week 11

• Oral Roberts righthander Alex Gonzalez spun a gem against Nicholls State on Saturday. Over seven innings, he gave up one run on four hits while walking one and striking out 12. He didn’t get a decision in the game, but is 6-4, 2.08 on the season with 94 strikeouts and 18 walks over 82 innings.

• Arkansas righthander Barrett Astin scattered four hits over eight shutout innings on Friday night against Georgia. He walked two and struck out eight in the win, improving to 3-2, 2.02 on the season. After pitching out of the Razorbacks’ bullpen as a sophmore, Astin has made a smooth transition to the rotation as a junior.

• Oregon closer Jimmie Sherfy continues to dominate at the back of the Ducks’ bullpen and earned a two-inning save against Stanford on Saturday. Over 30 innings, Sherfy is 2-0 with 14 saves, 10 walks and 40 strikeouts. Oregon first baseman Ryon Healy also had a great weekend, going 5-for-11 with a double, two home runs and a stolen base to help the Ducks sweep Stanford. On the season, Healy is now hitting .347/.411/.588 with 14 doubles and nine home runs.

• Washington State third baseman Adam Nelubowich was a singles machine this weekend against UCLA, going 7-for-13 with no extra-base hits. Five of his hits—a career high—came on Friday night, and the strong weekend boosted Nelubowich’s season line to .325/.373/.494.

• Georgia Tech first baseman Daniel Palka went 5-for-13 on the weekend with two doubles and a home run as the Yellow Jackets went 1-2 against Clemson. The big thumper is now hitting .360/.462/.652 on the season with 12 doubles and 12 home runs. His teammate Zane Evans—who was featured in last week’s Draft Tracker—tied a school record with six hits on Sunday, including two home runs and a double. Evans was also generating interest on the mound, but did not throw well the day before, taking the loss after giving up three runs on two hits and seven walks over 2 2/3 innings.
