The Cubs announced yesterday that top prospect Josh Vitters has been returned to extended spring training due to a left hand injury, which the Peoria Journal Star reports is tendinitis.
Vitters had been expected to be close to returning to the low Class A Peoria Chiefs’ lineup prior to the roster move. Vitters joined the Chiefs from extended spring training on April 18 and went 3-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI in his first game. Vitters appeared in three more games for the Chiefs, going 0-for-10 with four strikeouts, and has not played since April 21.
