The Nationals promoted righthander Jordan Zimmermann, a 2007 second-round pick out of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, from high Class A Potomac to Double-A Harrisburg today.
Zimmermann made quick work of Carolina League hitters this year, recording a 1.65 ERA and a 31-8 K-BB ratio in 27 1/3 innings over five games. In Zimmermann’s most recent outing, an April 30 game at home against Winston-Salem, Zimmermmann allowed three hits in seven shutout innings, finishing with nine strikeouts and no walks.
The 22-year-old is the No. 7 prospect in the Nationals organization, and the second-ranked righthander behind Triple-A Columbus starter Collin Balester.
