Badenhop Up, VandenHurk Down

All it took was one game in Double-A for Burke Badenhop to get called up to Florida.

The Marlins promoted the righthander to the majors and optioned righthander Rick VandenHurk to Double-A Carolina after VandenHurk got tagged for seven runs in 5 1/3 innings in his two starts this season.

Badenhop, 25, made one start this season for the Mudcats, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing an unearned run on three strikeouts and no walks. Last season in the Tigers organization, Badenhop had a 3.13 ERA in 135 1/3 innings for high Class A Lakeland and a 1.45 ERA in 18 2/3 innings in three games with Double-A Eerie.
