How does an OFer with a .677 OPS and OPS+ of 95 get a 1 to Miguel Gonalez 1a? Gonzalez was a better find, a far more productive player and likely to be more productive for the next three years.

What about Kevin Frandsen of the Phillies. He was in four different team's minor league systems before the Padres released him last January. Phillies pick him up a few days later and he was incredible from the moment he stepped into the Phillies starting lineup filling in for Polanco. He exceeded every possible expectation for him this season and even ranked 4th on the team for WAR for the season. Have to imagine he surpasses other names on the list.

@John

Yes, I missed Gonzalez on the first pass because I focused on offseason signings only. Would it make sense to omit him intentionally?

a list without Miguel Gonzalez of the Orioles? Well I just can't take that list seriously. 9-4 with a 3.25 ERA and a HUGE game against the Yanks in the post season.

You guys are absolutely correct. Burton and Gonzalez slipped through the cracks. Thanks for the correction.

Doesn't the Orioles' Miguel Gonzalez qualify for this list? Surely many Red Sox fans were even aware of his BoSox system past while watching Baltimore down the stretch.

Chris Carter had an 898 OPS vs lefties and had an 837 OPS vs righties.
This edit might work: "Moss served as the perfect lefty-hitting complement to Bob Melvin completely ignoring how good Chris Carter is against lefties."
Why the A's are totally convinced Carter is a 1B is beyond all logic and reason. He's a DH and should be their DH for 162 games next year.
