The Red Sox have signed Dominican righthander Jose Almonte, the No. 17 international prospect for July 2, for $610,000.
Almonte, 16, is 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with a loose delivery and good projection. He trained with Felix Liriano and Rafael de Leon, who is known as “Batata,” and was represented by Jonathan Weisz.
