The Padres have signed Dominican third baseman Caros Belen, the No. 8 international prospect for July 2, for $1 million.
Belen, a 16-year-old righthanded hitter, is 6-foot-2, 190 pounds and stands out for his offensive potential. He trained with Ney Acevedo and Rodolfo Mendez.
