Mets Sign Venezuelan Shortstop Miguel Patiño

The Mets have signed Miguel Patiño, a shortstop from Venezuela, for $135,000.

Patiño, 16, is small (5-foot-7) but handles the bat well (more here for BA subscribers). Some teams think he could end up moving to catcher. The Mets also announced the signing of Dominican second baseman Franklin Correa.

Earlier today the Mets signed 16-year-old Dominican shortstop Amed Rosario for $1.75 million, which so far is the biggest bonus for any Dominican player eligible for July 2 and may end up the biggest international bonus of the 2012-13 international signing period.
