Indians Sign Dominican Catcher Francisco Mejia For $350,000

The Indians have signed Dominican catcher Francisco Mejia for $350,000.

Mejia, 16, is only 5-foot-8, 155 pounds, but he's a switch-hitter with an excellent arm. He trained at La Academia. He is the second strong-armed catcher the Indians have signed today after they locked up Venezuelan catcher Yoiber Marquina earlier.

Baseball America subscribers can read longer scouting reports on Mejia and Marquina.
