Mike Trout is already known as one of the fastest players in the minors, and arguably the best power-speed combination the minors have seen in several years. This weekend, he added another story to the legend.
Playing for Triple-A Salt Lake, Trout scored from first on a run-of-the-mill single. Admittedly, the element of surprise played a part, as Trout just never stopped at third when right fielder Sawyer Carroll threw a looping throw to second base. But very few players have the speed to have taken advantage of the poor throw.
Here's video of the play, courtesy of MILB.com.

Nice camerawork!
Posted by Jimbo | April 16, 2012 at 11:22 am | Shortcut30 seconds of commercial for a 40 second clip of terrible camerawork. Classic! :)
Posted by Ed O | April 16, 2012 at 4:15 pm | ShortcutI had the chance to see him play Sunday. I have seen some video of the two triples that he had hit before Sunday. He turns doubles into triples with ease. In his first at bat, he hit a ball into the gap. He had no thoughts of stopping at second. The OF's got to the ball before he had reached second. Got the ball into third just after he slid into the bag. He is by far the fastes player I have seen in some time.
