Jose Fernandez isn't one of the Top 100 prospects in baseball right now, but that could change quickly.
Fernandez, the Marlins' first-round pick out of high school in 2011, struck out 10 of the 23 batters he faced tonight for low Class A Greensboro in his first full-season start, holding Lexington (Astros) to two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings.
Fernandez still is just 19, but with a plus fastball, two sharp breaking balls, feel for a changeup and what should be a durable 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame, he has the ingredients to be a frontline starter. More starts like tonight's and he'll move up the prospect rankings in a hurry.
