Boston Red Sox
Signed: RHP Aaron Cook, RHP Justin Germano (Samsung (Korea))
The Red Sox signed both Justin Germano and Doug Mathis from Korea's Samsung Lions this offseason. Germano put up a 2.78 ERA and 1.13 WHIP over 45 1/3 innings, while Mathis finished with a 2.52 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 64 1/3 innings.

Signed: RHP Ryne Reynoso (Gary (American Assoc.)), LHP Ron Mahay, LHP Clay Zavada, C Dioner Navarro, 1B Joel Guzman (Chunichi (Japan))
Released: RHP Kyle McCulloch
The Reds already have significant lefty presence in their bullpen—Sean Marshall, Bill Bray and possibly Aroldis Chapman—so Ron Mahay and Clay Zavada could be vying for third lefty honors.
Former Dodgers top prospect Joel Guzman touched down in the Rays, Nationals and Orioles organizations prior to playing in Japan last year. He led the Eastern League with 33 homers in ’10, but didn't fare nearly so well in Nippon Professional Baseball, batting .181/.219/.298 with seven homers and a walk-to-strikeout ratio of 9-to-81 in 238 at-bats.

Signed: RHP Carlos Torres (Yomiuri (Japan)), C Chase Weems (Rockland (Can-Am))
Carlos Torres turned in a career year with Triple-A Charlotte of the White Sox organization in ’09, going 10-4, 2.39 with 130 strikeouts in 128 innings. He's used a varied pitch mix to put up a 3.07 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 308 Triple-A innings, but he didn't replicate that success in Japan. Torres went 1-2, 6.26 in six starts for Yomiuri, striking out 19 and walking 11 in 27 1/3 innings.

Los Angeles Angels
Released: OF Chris Pettit
Chris Pettit broke out with Triple-A Salt Lake in ’09, batting .321/.383/.482 in 371 at-bats, but he lost the ’10 season after having shoulder surgery. He endured a gruesome injury in a home-plate collision in the ’09 Dominican League and really hasn't been the same since.

Signed: RHP Miguel Batista (re-signed), RHP Fernando Cabrera, SS Sean Kazmar
Released: LHP Casey Fossum, 2B Donnie Tabb
Removed from 40-man: LHP Danny Ray Herrera (outrighted to Triple-A)
The Mets continue to stockpile relief and middle-infield depth with recent signings. Fernando Cabrera joins Jeff Stevens and lefties Garrett Olson and Chuck James. Any or all of them could see big league time given that the Mets' most accomplished relievers are Frank Francisco, Jon Rauch and Ramon Ramirez. Triple-A shortstop Sean Kazmar joins Omar Quintanilla and Ronny Cedeno (major league deal) as alternatives to Ruben Tejada, should he falter.

Tampa Bay Rays
Signed: RHP Romulo Sanchez (Rakuten (Japan)), 2B Will Rhymes, OF Jesus Feliciano
Removed from 40-man: C Nevin Ashley (outrighted to Triple-A)
Lefthanded batters Jesus Feliciano and Will Rhymes have long track records of making contact and hitting for average at Triple-A, making them either quality regulars for Durham or quality fill-ins at the major league level. Feliciano batted .306/.356/.382 in 2,066 at-bats for Mets Triple-A affiliates in New Orleans and Buffalo, while playing mostly center field. A second baseman, Rhymes batted .290/.357/.386 in 1,198 at-bats for Toledo.
