Ivan, you commented in the wrong place probably. But to reply, there's still a team to be assigned to the U.S. pool; cold be Canada, Taiwan (gonna win that qualifier), Spain or one of the Latin American teams from the Panama qualifier. Mexico and Italy both won WBC games last time. Just an FYI, Mexico's pitching staff could be very good -- Yovani Gallardo, Jorge de la Rosa, Jaime Garcia, Joakim Soria if he's healthy, Luis Ayala ... lots of useful MLB pitchers. No cakewalk. Plus USA-Mexico gives you a good rivalry game and guaranteed gate. I do think the U.S. is always going to get a good draw in this event, but that's not a layup either.

Why the MLB organizers placed the USA basebal team in the easiest group for the first round of the World Baseball Classic 2013?
What a piece cake playing is this group, playing against Mexico and Italy!!!!!!!!
How come The USA team was not place in a group like Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico
the answer is obvious
And this stinks
