can we stop signing these players from the dominican?
there is a 50% chance that the player is either juiced up or lying about his identity
and even after the 50% cutoff, there is another 50% chance that he is even actually thinking about playing in the majors and not just trying to get quick cash.
so even BEFORE we analyze his skill level, theres a 75% chance that the player is a fraud.
why the padres claim that they have no money to sign players but continue to throw out money in the dominican is beyond me...i guess they're hoping they're gonna run into the next Albert Pujols. WAIT I FORGOT Pujols actually immigrated and played high school and college ball before a team took a chance on him in the 13th freaking round.
as a padres fan, it is evident as to why the padres are so consistently bad.
get rid of that dumb academy in the dominican, it's just basically a charity to help out kids there since it's obvious that nothing has come out of it so far and nothing will come out of it in the future.
just man up and draft a big name player in the first-year draft instead of trying to cut corners and hope you run into someone great...(that will probably sign with another team within 5 years anyways)

Let's see... same trainer that burned them for 1 million on Jorge Guzman has this kid who is worth 700K.
This "16" year old is worth 700K or 70% of 1 million. What is 70% of the .137 avg Guzman had in the Dominican Summer League? That's about .095... I am course am being facetious but there are reasons that teams like the Padres lose. Hey Padres I am 12 but I completely owned the 13 year old league I played in last year. As a matter of fact I never made an out last season and never gave up a hit as a pitcher. Disregard the body hair and the fact that I drive myself to the games, I am just very mature for my age. I am already 6'4" 250 imagine how I will look when I am 21. I am willing to give you a one time shot to sign me for 10,000 and a case of really good beer. This opportunity will expire fast so act now.
