The Rays have agreed to sign Dominican catcher Eric Otañez. Bonus terms were not immediately available.
Otañez, a 16-year-old righthanded hitter out of La Academia, was one of the top Dominican catching prospects available among this year's July 2-eligible players. He is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds and has a strong arm. BA subscribers can access Otañez's full scouting report here.
