Good questions Mike. NMS, not sure about the when but the press release made it sound like that was ongoing this year, perhaps while he was injured at Fort Wayne. I didn’t see any reports of that previously.

If I had to guess, he probably got hooked on some painkillers he took while healing up from his various injuries. It's a setback, but he's not finished yet, if he can get on top of this.

he was one o the better young outfielders in the 2009 draft, now he's just messed his whole career up. Unless he can make a big time rebound and resurrect his career like Josh Hamilton did, he's done.

Having pointed out the two-sport contract, which presumably means they haven't payed 3/5 of the bonus yet, do the Padres have any recourse to try to pull some of that back? Presumably, a third strike that gets him a lifetime ban would nuke any anything not previously paid out?

Was this publicized or did it happen under wraps while he was injured?
