How did Dickerson switch organizations from the Royals to Twins without first being released? Did K.C. loan him to Minnesota this spring as a favor?

The Royals reinstated Joe Dickerson from the inactive list and *released him* on June 29, 2010. He had been placed on the restricted list on July 13, 2009, in conjunction with his unofficial, and as it turned out temporary, retirement.

The Twins signed him on March 1, 2011, and released him on March 28.
