Added to 40-man roster: C Robinson Chirinos
Removed from 40-man: RHP Jeff Gray, OF Jim Adduci
Signed as a second/third baseman out of Venezuela, Robinson Chirinos converted to catcher in ’08, his eighth pro season, and has made terrific strides offensively and defensively. After catching a career-high 85 games combined at the Double-A and Triple-A levels, the 26-year-old stands on the cusp of the big leagues now that he's been added to the 40-man. Chirinos gunned down 30 percent of basestealers with Double-A Tennessee with average arm strength, and he made the Southern League all-star team for batting .318/.412/.580 with 15 homers in 264 at-bats. He doesn't run, but he does just about everything else, such as make contact, draw walks and hit for power.
Cincinnati Reds
Signed: RHP Jerry Gil (re-signed), RHP Justin Lehr (re-signed), RHP Ruben Medina (re-signed), 3B Eric Campbell (Fargo-Moorhead (Northern)), 3B Mike Costanzo (re-signed)
Eric Campbell helped lead Fargo-Moorhead to a second straight Northern League title and now he's back in affiliated ball. The 25-year-old hit .311 with 22 homers in 302 at-bats for Fargo after getting cut by the Phillies in spring training. A Braves second-round pick in ’04, Campbell bashed 18 home runs in the Rookie-level Appalachian League in ’05, winning MVP honors, and then 22 more for low Class A Rome in ’06. He wore out his welcome with the Braves, however, and when he stopped hitting (just .241/.308/.331 for Double-A Mississippi in ’09), Atlanta released him.

Pittsburgh Pirates
Released: 2B Josh Bonifay
Toronto Blue Jays
Signed: RHP Wes Etheridge (Maui (Golden)), RHP Steve Raburn (Rio Grande Valley (United)), RHP Jamie Vermilyea (re-signed)
A Brewers 12th-round pick from UC Irvine in ’07, Wes Etheridge played on the same Golden League team as Jamie Vermilyea in ’10. He had a fine year, too, going 10-0, 1.76 with a nifty 86-to-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 92 innings. The 26-year-old Etheridge spent the ’09 season on the restricted list.
Chaffey (Calif.) JC product Steve Raburn, 22, pitched for three independent league teams in ’10, beginning in the Frontier League and ending in the United. He struck out 45 UL batters in 43 2/3 innings but also walked 19.
Washington Nationals
Signed: RHP Robinson Fabian (re-signed), SS Brian Bixler (re-signed), OF Jesus Valdez (re-signed)
Traded three times in 2010 in minor deals—from the Pirates to Indians, back to the Pirates and finally to the Nationals—Brian Bixler seems to have settled in with Washington. He hit .340 for Triple-A Syracuse upon joining the Nats organization. In playing for three International League clubs in all (also Columbus and Indianapolis), Bixler hit a more modest .285/.347/.389 with 18 stolen bases, but considering his defensive flexibility, that works just fine.

Petey Pablo, I emailed Matt Eddy about it and he said that we'll have it basically as soon as they do, and that MLB hasn't sent it to them yet (but theoretically will soon!). I'm excited for it too.
