This season, Werner went 11-6, 3.47 in 20 starts to rank second in the FL in wins. He struck out 106 and walked 52 in 127 innings. John Manuel adds that Scurry is the son of ex-big leaguer Rod Scurry, who was a first-round pick back in ’74.

Rollins started the year with Pittsfield of the CanAm League, was released, and signed with Evansville of the Frontier League. They released him on October 14th.

Scurry is the son of ex-big leaguer Rod Scurry, who was a first-round pick back in 1974.

Why would a late-round college senior not sign immediately?.

Also, what does Jeremy Slayden coming off of the inactive list mean?  I thought he had retired and it doesn't look like he played this year.  Does coming off of the inactive list mean he is unretiring and wants to play next year or is this purely a paperwork type move?

The Phillies' reinstatement of Jeremy Slayden suggests one of two things: either he wishes to resume playing baseball or the organization intends to release him in the near future.
