A 49th-rounder in June, Tyson Kendrick was the first-ever draft pick from Tabor (Kan.) College. With short-season Connecticut after signing, he got into 12 games as a backup catcher and 5-for-20. Now, he becomes one of the first—if not the first—’10 draft pick to be released.

Florida Marlins
Granted free agency:
LHP Taylor Tankersley, 3B Hector Luna, SS Donnie Murphy
Removed from 40-man roster: SS Donnie Murphy (Triple-A)

The Marlins' top pick in ’04 (that would be 27th overall following a World Series run), Taylor Tankersley missed all of ’09 when he had surgery to correct a stress fracture in his elbow. He made 54 appearances this season in his comeback from injury. Righthanded batters have hit Tankersley hard (career .268/.386/.452 in the big leagues), but the 27-year-old could be just beginning his career as a lefty situational reliever. With Triple-A New Orleans, he limited lefties to 4-for-34 (.118).

On a related note to what you said about Tyson Kendrick, is Sedon the first top 10 rounder from 2009 to get cut?

That's a great question. Unfortunately, I can't provide a quick answer for you. That might be something I would have called out in the commentary in blogs past.

Wiil there be a full list of minor league free agents available on the site like in the past?

Of course. You'll have it not long after we do.

I believe Kyle Necke, the Twins 34th round pick, was the first 2010 draft pick released.
