The Astros signed Dominican lefthander Geronimo Franzua for $250,000.
Franzua, who is 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, was one of the more prominent 16-year-old lefthanders in the Dominican Republic and pitched in the inaugural season of the Dominican Prospect League.
